Alberton Wrestling Club continues to impress
Seventeen out of 24 Alberton Wrestling Club wrestlers won medals in the Beast of the East Open Tournament.
The Alberton Wrestling Club wrestlers came home with 17 medals after competing in the Beast of the East Open Tournament at the Gauteng North Wrestling Hall in Pretoria on July 20.
The tournament had 568 entries in and around Gauteng, with the Alberton Wrestling Club being one of them.
The day saw wrestlers across different clubs showcase their skills while competing for the top spot.
The club praised all the wrestlers who competed brilliantly and attained medals in their category.
The gold medalists are Christian Leonard Havenga, Daniel Tichy, Gunnar Hodge, Katrien Havenga, Vincent Jayden Craukamp, Jaco Bornman, and Shiloh Cantor.
The silver medalists include Luan Renier Janse van Rensburg, Brayden Wynne de Jager, Rylan Griezel, Franco Kielblock, Nico Potgieter, and Divesh Soma.
Dietrich Brauns, Juan Janse van Rensburg, Nico Potgieter and Tristen Booysen qualified for bronze medals.
Lizelle Fourie from the club said, “It was a long and hard day, but we showed what we are capable of.”
