Alberton’s submission grapplers win

The fighters, some as young as 6 years-old, won a combination of gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (MMA/BJJ) fighters from Valhalla Fitness Centre in Alberton emerged victorious at the Versus Grappling Tournament held in Pretoria.

The tournament took place on July 20, with over 20 entries.

Valhalla entered adults and children into the tournament and clinched second place in the best academy and second and third in the best overall academy categories.

Josef Moosa, Valhalla fighter, got the second fastest submission, at just 10 seconds.

Valhalla fighters walked away with six gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.

“We are extremely proud of our competitive athletes not only in their performance but also of how they carry themselves on and off the mats,” said Valhalla head coach Shane Carr.
