Help Katlehong Athletics Club reach its annual mission

The Katlehong Athletics Club is appealing with the general public to help them help the less disadvantaged learners by donating a pair of school shoe/s or by making funds donations.

The Katlehong Athletics Club (KAC) has initiated its yearly school shoe drive, which is expected to assist hundreds of primary school learners in the Kathorus region.

The Charity Club Run’s primary goal is to gather school shoes and generate money to buy them for a few local primary schools, including Katlehong School of Deaf and Blind.

Every year on December 31, the Charity Club Run Drive is held. It is a 31km run that starts at 05:00 at Ramokonopi East, Sontonga Road, which is across from Ramokonopi Clinic.

Nonetheless, runners may choose to take part in lesser distances like the 10km and 21km run/walk.

The club’s chairperson, Nthabiseng Mosheqane, confirmed that everything is going smoothly with the charity run preparations and they are excited to have runners from across Gauteng participate. She went on to say that last year, participants gave generously to the extent of 245 pairs of shoes, as well as cash, which they used to purchase more school shoes.

The gifts helped five primary schools this year. They aim to collect at least 260 pairs of school shoes this year so that they are able to send children back to school in January with dignity.

“We therefore appeal to the community of runners, walkers, gym fanatics as well as ordinary residents to support this noble social community initiative as they have been doing in previous years,” added Mosheqane.

Pre-entry is suggested for willing participants. To do so, deposit a minimum of R150 on the club’s FNB account (6209 7536357), and reference it as SSDonation and surname. Alternatively, attendees can purchase a pair of shoes and bring them on the day.
