Alberton Boxing Club wraps good year of boxing

It was a good year for Alberton Boxing Club which saw their members bag numerous accolades for their matchless skills in the ring.

The Alberton Boxing Club recently hosted their end-year function to award boxers after a successful year.

Coach Pieter Strydom said: “The boxers did well this year. We’ve prepared the boxers for the championships for next year, especially JP du Plooy, De-Andre van der Merwe, Emmanuel Ntamo, as well as Karien and Kiara.”

The club recognised Jacques du Plooy as the best junior boxer, Emmanuel Ntamo as the best elite boxer, Karien Els as the best female boxer and Kabukala Tshamala as the best scientific boxer plus 60kg.

Zander Els followed pursuit for best beginner plus 45kg, Tristan Kilfoil was awarded for best beginner U45kg with Kiara Kilfoil was awarded as best female beginner.

Emmanuel Ntamo was again awarded for the best fight of the year elite, De-Andre van der Merwe was recognised for best sportsmanship and Jacques du Plooy also took the best fight of the year junior.

Manelisa Mbatha was proudly acknowledged as the most improved boxer, while Andile Makubu took the most scientific boxer U60kg award with Neo Ntulo was awarded as the most deserving boxer.

Strydom said they hope for another successful year.
