Meyersdal’s Rob van Aarle, who competed in the Ben Morgenrood Historic Pursuit Series in his trusty 1969 Ford Escort Mk1, scooped the awards for second in his class and second in the overall championship.

Blane de Meillion of Brackendowns competed in the Gauteng Formula Libre Championship and, despite suffering a few mechanical maladies during the season, secured an impressive third place in class D.

Stan Hattingh said De Meillion’s Sting is now back to full health and fans should expect exciting results from the ‘Brackendown Blitz’ in 2024.

“Bruce ‘Rookie’ van Niekerk of Brackenhurst, fresh from a 33-year break from competing in motorsport, had an outstanding season. Bruce competed in the Gauteng Formula Libre Championship in his Omega ‘91 and secured enough points to win class E of the championship before being promoted to class D, where he placed second,” said Hattingh.

“But before we close the season, Omega ’91 will make an appearance at the Bracken fun day hosted by Habibi Properties. This family fun day is in aid of Dare to Care, Amcare and the Epic Foundation. Team Omega ‘91 will be there to support these worthwhile causes. Hope to see you there on December 9 from 08:30 to 15:30 on 93 Jackson Street, Brackenhurst,” said van Niekerk.
