MMA athletes bring back medals

The Valhalla MMA participated in the Versus Submission Grappling Tournament in Pretoria on November 18.

With only a small team of six youth athletes, they took the top spot among all the other academies that entered, with some of their athletes competing in double divisions and winning gold in both.

The athletes have repeatedly proved that their hard work and skill sets obtained at Valhalla MMA & Fitness under Professor Shane Carr can and have earned them gold at almost every tournament they enter.

“We are very proud of our work at the academy and the athletes who train with us. We have a stellar ensemble of upcoming MMA and Submission Grappling youth athletes. Their dedication and hard work at such a young age are an inspiration to all, and it shows in their confident walk and their hunger to compete at high levels. The future is bright,” said Carr, the head coach and Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu black belt responsible for the winning culture at the academy.

As an academy, the Valhalla MMA BJJ has ranked in the top three gyms in SA and placed first or top three at every Submission Grappling tournament held in Gauteng.

“Massive congrats to the following athletes for their incredible performance at the tournament: Nathan Nanfack (gold), Miriam Moosa (gold), Zyd Moosa (double gold), Josef Moosa (double gold), Coenie Lamprecht (double gold) and Matthew Ketting (ninth place),” said Carr.
