The Alberton Wrestling Club represented Team Ekurhuleni at the South African Youth Championships in Pretoria on October 7.
It was a day of action-packed wrestling, and the boys and girls did exceptionally well.
In first place and receiving gold medals were Rylan Griezel, Barbara Erasmus, Katrien Havenga, and Zayden van Eeden.
In second place, receiving silver medals, were Daniel Tichy, Mioni van Baalen, Pieter Labuschagne and Jeandre Watson. In third place was Dietrich Brauns, while Edward van der Walt and Dehan Bokhort placed fourth. In fifth were Wian Hamer, Christian Havenga, Juan Janse van Rensburg, Danie Erasmus and Arico Fourie.
Lizelle Fourie from the club said: “We, as Alberton Wrestling Club, are so proud and thank each boy and girl for all their hard work throughout the year and each parent for their dedication.”
The club thanked coaches Brian Watson and Richard Addinall for their support and dedication.
