Motocross rider (7) ready to represent the country in Cape Town

Young motocross rider, Luan Jordaan, has been selected to represent the South African 50cc team in August.

Luan Jordaan is no stranger to the podium and his supporters are guaranteed an exciting and action-packed race when the young enthusiastic rider is in action.

Luan (7), a Grade Two learner at Laerskool Randhart, has been riding motocross since he was five, predominantly participating in development and club racing during 2021 and 2022.

Young Luan is currently participating in the 50cc SNR races on his Husqvarna TC 50, always donning his favourite number, 20, on his back.

In 2022, he joined the Ride Train Race (RTR) Academy. Through the guidance of his watchful coach, Springbok motocross legend Tony Riddell, he started to progress in the club races and participated in the Northern Regional Motocross Championship (NRMX) and the (MSA) National Championships of 2023.

He has participated in four events and is currently in the fourth position. This is five points away from the second overall position, with another three events remaining for the year.

MSA Nationals

The National Championship had four rounds, between Phakisa in Welkom to Cape Town and Pietermaritzburg.
According to his father, Corne Jordaan, Luan is currently fourth overall on the national standings, with another four events remaining and round five taking place on June 24 at TEZA in Richards Bay.

“Luan is no stranger to the podium. He had six podium finishes for the year. As a result, he has been selected to represent the South African 50cc team in August. The SA team will participate in the Motocross of African Nations (MxoAN), an international event in Cape Town from August 11 to 13,” he explained.

As this is an international event sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Federation, he said this will allow Luan the experience and exposure to following his dreams and hopefully one day be competing in Europe.
