Alberton boxer wins big in Emperors Palace tournament

Brandon Thysse took the December title in the recently held boxing tournament in Emperors Palace after a tough match he had against Cristiano Ndombassy on December 10.

Alberton’s boxer Brandon Thysse returned home as the winner of the recently held boxing tournament at Emperors Palace on December 10.

Thysse, the IBO All-African and WBA Pan African junior middleweight champion, faced the feisty Cristiano Ndombassy, who was born in Angola and is also the WBO African Welterweight and WBF International junior middleweight champion.

They clashed for a 10-round bout as part of the Cracker Jack Box and Dine Tournament.

Thysse had previously lost on a split point to Roarke Knapp in an epic battle at the same venue in June.

The judges awarded Thysse a victory by scores of 98-93, 96-95, and 97-93 in favour of the Alberton fighter after Thysse put Ndombassy in difficulty in the fourth round.
