The first leg of the Triple Tiara, the World Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas and the Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas over 1 600m will take place at Turffontein Racecourse on February 5.
The Triple Tiara is all sponsored by Wilgerbosdrift Stud.
The two Grade 2 races form the respective first legs of the SA Triple Crown and the Wilgerbosdrift SA Triple Tiara is for fillies. The two other legs of the Triple Crown are the Grade 1 SA Classic over 1 800m and Grade 2 SA Derby over 2 450m while in the case of the Triple Tiara, they are the Grade 1 SA Fillies Classic and Grade 2 SA Oaks.
If Mike de Kock plays his cards correct he may be up there for a win on the Highveld. He has Dingaans winner Safe Passage and third-placed Aragosta in the Gauteng Guineas.
He will, however, be up against Johan Janse van Vuuren outstanding racehorses, Outofthedarkness and Prince Of Fire, and Mike and Adam Azzie Supreme Warrior, who is in good form.
Racing will start at 11:00 at Turffontein and all Covid-19 protocols will be followed. Ample parking is available.
