Wally Hayward Marathon postponed

This is also in line with the guidelines by Athletics South Africa (ASA) to postpone all athletics events for the next 30 days.

The MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon, which was scheduled to take place on May 1, in Centurion, has been postponed indefinitely in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

To avoid risk to participants and the public and in line with the provisions of the National State of Disaster announced on March 15, the organisers of the MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon have decided to postpone the race until further notice. This is also in line with the guidelines by Athletics South Africa (ASA) to postpone all athletics events for the next 30 days.

The head of marketing and brand at MiWay, Nthabiseng Moloi, said, “While the Covid-19 pandemic makes postponement unavoidable at this stage, the safety of all runners, suppliers and members of the public is of utmost importance.”

MiWay has been the title sponsor for the event for the past five years.
