Box Office to merge with Fight for Insight (FWI)

Boasting South African champions two years in a row are Sipho Mahlangu and John Masamba at FWI.

Box Office is stepping into a new era for it’s Pro-Am boxers as it will merge with Fight for Insight (FWI).

Since 2001, Box Office has been under the tutorship of former champion boxer Anton Gilmore, taking on many endeavours with success. In 2020, the Gilmore camp has move on to merge with the highly successful pro fighters from FWI.

Boasting South African champions two years in a row are Sipho Mahlangu and John Masamba at FWI.

The Libote brothers are Congolese prodigy, and Christian Libote recorded his first win during the Southern Giant in November 2019.

He has a fearsome punch and weighs in at 72kg.

His brother, Joel, is a linguistic master and somewhat of a replica of Mohammed Ali’s boxing style.

Lukholo Ndlanggalavu is one of the mentors at the institution with Pedro Fangele to bring up the lightweight contenders.

Both are very proficient as most of them are at FWI.

Luke Lambrecht and Lucky Nahasambho have been very instrumental in developing the professional boxers.

Each year, some five new professionals get their chance in the ring, considering the fact that FWI is now running for five years; 25 professionals have made a name for themselves.

These boxers have also attained skills to run their own gymnasiums.

The Gilmore camp has made some great strides over the past few years, boasting five professionals in the likes of Ricardo Malajika, Mike Mokoena, Shaun McMinnie, Serge Kongolo and Lewis Bukasa. Xolani Mghidi joined the club while Lesley Flavell is their trainer at the Bassonia gymnasium.

This year, Paul Tsehla and the other Malajika brother, Louie, will join the third South African champion, Miranda Malajika at Box Office.

Other boxers who are in line to train in the gymnasium are Chad Lovett in the flyweight division, Rofhiwa Maemu and Syia Mabena

Upcoming events for the Gilmore camp will see Ricardo Malajika fight for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental super flyweight title on March 21, and a Black Tie event in June.
