The Arthur Ashe Tennis Centre in Soweto will be buzzing with tennis activities.

Come January 31 to February 2, the Arthur Ashe Tennis Centre in Soweto will be buzzing with tennis activities.

This is part of the BNP Paribas Rising Star Tennis showdown, a tennis initiative aimed at increasing participation and passion for tennis.

The City of Joburg prides itself in the fact that the Arthur Ashe Tennis Centre has been chosen as the most suitable venue to host this initiative, which includes coaching clinics, school sport development, talent identification, disability sport and promotion of sport excellence. This affirms the city’s contribution to the broader sport development agenda as outlined in the National Sport and Recreation Plan, said Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development councillor Margaret Arnolds.

Kevin Anderson, the current SA top tennis player and Lloyd Harris, the rising star who competes among the ranks of Roger Federer, will be engaging in key activities as scheduled below.

The proceedings will start on Friday at 11am with the Day 1 of the National Primary School Finals at the tennis centre (AATC) in Soweto. Both boys and girls events consist of 10 teams (10 boys teams and 10 girls teams) each.
