Seafood and horse racing served up at Joburg’s Prawn Fest

Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara will take centre stage at Joburg’s Prawn Festival.

EXCITEMENT is growing as the final leg of the Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara approaches, and adding to the anticipation is the fact that it will take centre stage at Joburg’s Prawn Festival.

Joburg’s Prawn Festival will take place on March 30 at Turffontein Racecourse. Gates open at 11am.

The day will also boast one of the major races on the Highveld racing calendar, attracting racing fans from all over.

Horse racing is and always will be the star of the show, but it doesn’t hurt to race down to Turffontein Racecourse for a big helping of succulent prawns. If seafood isn’t your thing, there will be plenty of other food trucks with an array of exciting dishes to tantalise your taste buds.

As the Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara are both open for any racing horse to take full laurels this year, it will be over to the jockeys to steer them through the finishing line in order to rake in the big win.

To entertain the racing fans, a beer garden (open to people 18 years and older) will be provided.

Beer and a variety of prawn dishes, set in real beer-fest style, is the casual order of the day, and you definitely will enjoy the large range of craft beers on offer.

But what is a race day without prize giveaways? Visitors will need to keep a watchful eye on the various competitions to be held throughout the lead-up and on the actual day so that they don’t miss out.

The entire family is welcome on race day, and there will be a designated area where the little ones can play to their heart’s content in a safe zone.

Entrance is free, so make sure you get to Turffontein on Saturday to enjoy a fabulous day at the races.
