Maluleka wins Goal of the Month

Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka receives Goal of the Month Award.

KAIZER Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka’s spectacular goal for Kaizer Chiefs against SuperSport United has been voted the best goal of December.

He received the award from Absa on February 20 at Kaizer Chiefs Village.

Voting for each month can only be done once all the fixtures are completed. Members of the public then have three to four weeks to vote for the goal of their choice.

The central midfielder, who was captain on the day, produced a superb strike on the edge of the 18-yard (approximately 16 metres) area after a pass from Kabelo Mahlasela, a goal which saw Chiefs win 1-0 over United.

The 30-year-old’s goal ensured he became the first Amakhosi player to win the award this season. This is the first individual monthly award for Maluleka, who also had stints at United and Ajax Cape Town.

Maluleka’s strike was one of 10 goals nominated for the award, alongside Bradley Ralani, Lebohang Maboe, Jemondré Dickens, Tshwarelo Bereng, Rhulani Manzini, Salulani Phiri, Thembinkosi Lorch, Kabelo Dlamini and Thabang Monare.

Voting for the Goal of the Month for January opened on February 1 on the PSL website and will close at midnight on February 28.
