Summer Cup will offer horse-racing thrills and more at Turffontein Racecourse

Get ready for one of Joburg’s biggest horse-racing events, the Grade 1 G-Bets Gauteng Summer Cup.

TURFFONTEIN Racecourse will be a hive of activity when summer racing culminates in the Grade 1 G-Bets Gauteng Summer Cup over 2 000m.

One of Joburg’s biggest horse-racing events will return on Saturday, December 1, and pundits have already placed serious bets on their favourites.

Geoff Woodruff has produced six Grade 1 Summer Cup winners, and his chances of having a filly who can become the fourth female in the last 20 years to win the Summer Cup look very bright. He has Secret Potion in the mix for Johannesburg’s most coveted racing prize.

The annual Summer Cup is Joburg’s longest-running and most respected first-grade horse race. While the focus is on the thrilling races, the event is packed with entertainment for the whole family.

Racegoers can look forward to a stunning display of fresh South African talent.

The main race will ushered in with a half-time show featuring top South African entertainment, a large field band, dancers, singers and more.

There will be a wide choice of stylish hospitality areas, where spectators can enjoy good food, drinks, roving fashion shows and music.

It is the first time G-Bets has stepped into the racing arena as a sponsor.

Rob Scott, Tellytrack CEO and sales and marketing executive for Phumelela, said, “Gauteng is people’s country, and the G-Bets Gauteng Summer Cup is one of the few People’s Races where there is no age restriction. So the day really belongs to all, big and small.”

Gates will open at 11.00am and ample safe parking will be provided.
