Bafana Bafana vs Seychelles

Baxter has named a 24-man Bafana Bafana squad for the 2019 Afcon.

Whether it will make a difference that Bafana Bafana will play their African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Seychelles at the FNB Stadium or not, they need to rake in the win.

Head coach of the national side Stuart Baxter has named his squad to take on the small island of Seychelles on October 13 and 16.

The home qualifier will be played at FNB Stadium on Saturday while the away fixture is scheduled on October 16 at the Stade Linite Stadium in Seychelles.

“We need to win these encounters and take six points out of it,” said Baxter at the announcement. “It is also time that we put to bed losing against the smaller nations.”

Baxter has named a 24-man Bafana Bafana squad for the 2019 Afcon and believes this is a squad consisting of experienced and young players who can blend together to get the win in order to qualify for Afcon.

Baxter’s charges raked in an impressive 2-0 away win against African giants Nigeria before being held to a goalless draw by Libya at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

They are second in Group E behind Libya on goal difference with both teams on four points after two rounds of fixtures.

“It doesn’t matter where Dino is playing,” Baxter said. “Whether it’s in the first or 10th division. I have seen some of the goals he’s scoring, they are good goals. I think he’s worth his weight in the team.”

Cape Town City midfielder Thabo Nodada’s impressive performances for his club did not go unnoticed as he was rewarded with a call-up.

The tickets for the match on October 13 at FNB Stadium are on sale at Computicket at reasonable prices.
