The event is included in the Cycling South Africa (CSA) Road and Mountain Bike (MTB) calendar. In addition to the two cycling events, the organisers have decided to continue with the trail run introduced last year. The trail run will run along sections of the mountain bike track. The weekend’s event will commence with the MTB race on Saturday. The road race and trail run will be done simultaneously on Sunday.

The mountain bike event will include the following:

A 60km race, 35km race, 6 to 12km fun ride for riders younger than 12 years and 1 to 3km fun ride for riders younger than eight years of age.

The trail run will commence immediately after all the 58km riders have departed and they will follow a 6km, 12km and 21km trail along the MTB route.

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Germiston and the Germiston Wheelers Cycling Club.

The Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race is recognised as one of the most popular and prestigious events on SA’s road racing calendar in Gauteng. In addition, it is the source of much-needed funds that get ploughed back into the community of Ekurhuleni.
