Morgan Ziervogel is currently in Hungary about to compete at the 2018 ICF, junior and u-23 Sprint World championship.

MORGAN Ziervogel competed in Hungary at the 2018 International Canoe Federation (ICF) junior and u-23 Sprint World Championship.

The championships took place in Szeged, Hungary, from July 26 to 29 and the South African squad of nine men and women competed against the world’s best.

Ziervogel participated in the u-23 1 000m K1 race and did very well.

The South African contingent held their own at the prestigious championships. While the competition was strong they gained experience and the first-timers learned a lot.

David Rodrigues, from Gauteng, raced in the u-23 200m K1.

There were scores of u-18 paddlers taking on the challenge this year with the likes of Jonathan Jooste and Jordy Malherbe leading the boys and Jackie van der Westhuyzen, Kate Croudace, Caroline van der Linde and Keegan Kieser in the girls’ races.
