Overall third place for triathletes

Frances Vorwerg School showed their class in the triathlon.

LEARNERS from Frances Vorwerg School showed their class in the prestigious Miway Life Sun City Ultra 2018 Triathlon.

The triathlon was recently held where numerous athletes competed in different categories.

Kyle Grant, Damen Schlebusch and Nhlanhla Skisazana were afforded the opportunity to show their respective abilities in the triathlon. Grant competed in the 20km road cycling, Schlebusch in the 600m swim and Skisazana did the last lap, the 5km road run. The team won the men’s open category and came third overall on the day with a time of one hour and 30 minutes. They are looking forward to their next event in November.

Frances Vorwerg School is one of the front-runners for sport, boasting many sporting codes for their learners. Jacques Oberholtzer, head of department of sport at Frances Vorwerg, and his team are presenting various opportunities for their learners in sport such as athletics, athletics for the disabled, netball, soccer, soccer for the disabled, chess, boccia for the disabled, archery, swimming, table tennis and many more, as well as on a cultural level when they enter learners in the Eisteddfod in Alberton.

The school’s learners do not only excel at local or provincial level but also at a national level.
