Balls rolling in the money for Stepping Stone Hospice

The Alberton Bowling ladies team decided to dedicate the tournament to raising funds for Stepping Stone Hospice.

LADIES of the Alberton Bowling Club in Florentia recently held a Ladies ‘Trips’ Tournament. It ran over five Saturdays during May and June – culminating in a grand final on 24 June.

Behind the competitiveness of it all, though, lay a spirit of generosity as the Alberton ladies team decided to dedicate the tournament to raise funds for Stepping Stone Hospice.

A whopping R10 000, plus an additional R1 231.30 in small change was handed over to Stepping Stone CEO, Tersia Burger at the prize-giving lunch.

Having attended both the opening round of the tournament on Saturday 20 May, as well as the final on 24 June, Tersia thanked the ladies for choosing Stepping Stone Hospice as their beneficiary and for a great event on the final day. The club invited the community to show their support for Hospice by hosting a family fun day. Pancakes, beorie rolls as well as a selection of second-hand goods and books were on sale.

Tersia reiterated that without the support of people like the ladies of the bowling club, as well as the Stepping Stone Hospice volunteers who gave of their time to man the food and charity-goods tables, “our hospice would simply not exist.”
