THE two soccer giants of South African football, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, will once again meet in the Carling Black Label Champion Cup.

This prestigious event will take place on July 29 at the FNB Stadium. Both the teams are situated in the South but have the largest following of soccer fans in the country. The stadium boasts a capacity of 95 000 and will once again be filled up with the supporters of these two teams.

Since its inception seven years ago the Carling Black Label Champion Cup has given soccer fans the chance not only to vote for the players in the two teams to play on the day but they can now also prescribe the format in which the two teams must play on the day.

This innovation, as well as bravery, has given champion men the power to taste the ultimate reward. At the start of the 2017 campaign, a new element was introduced to the Carling Black Label Champion Cup when champion coaches were afforded the addition of formation as part of the ultimate coaching experience. This innovation has been well accepted and received by supporters from both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. With over 5 500 000 million votes cast to date, this has successfully overthrown the votes from previous years by far and is likely to have been influenced by the reinstatement of the free voting mechanic.

To honour and reward champion coaches for their consistent participation and support for the Champion Cup, Carling Black Label on July 3, announced an exciting addition to the Champion Coaches journey. The 4-2-3-1 Formation, also known as the “Benni Special” has been revealed as an addition to the existing four formations that are currently on offer and is likely to compete with the traditional 4-4-2 formation that is currently leading with votes ahead of match day.

The overall player votes are led by Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune with over 200 000 votes and striker Tendai Ndoro leading Orlando Pirates with just over 140 000 votes. Champion coaches, who have already voted for players that have been released, will still have use of their “Super Vote” which enables them to reallocate their votes to other available players.

They can do so by purchasing a Carling Black Label beer and dialling *120*660*. They then enter their unique underlined code and then#. Entry is free on USSD or they can go to www.carlingblacklabel.co.za.
