Monthly awards go to Cape Town City

Absa PSl monthly awards to Cape Town City Football club captain and head coach.

Cape Town City Football Club has walked away with two awards in the Absa Premier Soccer League monthly awards.

Captain Lebogang Manyama was unanimously voted as the best player in the Absa Premiership for October/November and December while Head Coach Eric Tinkler received the Best Coach in the League award for the month of December 2016.

Stuart Baxter, Head Coach of SuperSport United, received the Coach of the Month award for October/November 2016.

Manyama, who has been in fantastic nick since the start of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season, was rewarded for his match-winning goals in most of City’s victories during this period. The panel of judges singled him out above peers such as teammate Aubrey Mngoma, Prince Nxumalo from Ajax Cape Town, and SuperSport United duo Thabo Mnyamane and Reneilwe Letsholonyane. They rewarded him for his excellent leadership qualities and intelligence, for providing the creative spark and scoring the goals, as well as for being the main driver in City’s success in the league thus far.

The Tembisa-born Manyama scored an impressive seven goals in October, November and December.

The Absa monthly awards were handed to Manyama and Tinkler on Monday February 13 while Baxter received his during the week, as he and his team SuperSport United were still returning home from their Africa fixture.
