Lions hunting the Sharks

Xerox Golden Lions will face the Cell C Sharks this coming Friday.

“We have only one goal in mind and that is to win,” said head coach of the Xerox Golden Lions, Johan Ackermann.

The Lions will be hunting Cell C Sharks come this Friday, September 30, when the last round of the Currie Cup round robin will take place. Xerox Golden Lions will face the stronghold of KwaZulu Natal in order to secure a semi-final spot.

The match will take place at Emirates Airline Park and will start at 17:00.

“The Sharks will be coming at us with everything they have especially on the technical side,” said Ackermann.” We are happy to play the last match against one of the better teams in the competition which will give us the opportunity to bring the best out of us.”

Ackermann has made a few changes to the side. “I am grateful for Malcolm (Marx) who is back from the Springboks and he will definitely bring something to the side. He has gained a lot of experience and has now the feeling of how international rugby is,” said Ackermann.

The side will also be captained by Kwagga Smith for the second time and according to him it is an honour to be called upon to captain the Lions.

Ruan Dreyer will start for the Xerox Golden Lions in the place of Julian Redelinghuys who has joined the Springboks. In another change to the front row Robbie Coetzee will start in the hooker berth with Malcolm Marx warming the bench.

And as part of the team’s rotation system Ross Cronjé and Andries Coetzee start at nine and 15 respectively.
