Step up for the Rhino spring walk

Spring Run/Walk in aid of The Rhino Orphanage.

THE first spring walk in aid of The Rhino Orphanage, will be presented by Mondeor Run/Walk For Life and will take place on Saturday, September 3.

The 5km or 10km event will take place at the Klipriversberg Recreation Centre, Peggy Vera Road, Kibler Park. The event will start at 09:00.

Entry fee is one grey dog blanket or large towel for The Rhino Orphanage. Any other donations are more than welcome. The Steelwings Motorcycle Club will be making breakfast at their clubhouse on the premises at R30 per person.

The run/walk will be in aid of baby rhinos that are left without their mothers, either due to poaching or natural circumstances, and are cared for, raised and protected. They always need blankets and towels for the babies.

It goes without saying that as a non-profit organisation The Rhino Orphanage depends a lot on what the community can send its way.

Please remember that this is a fun walk and there are no medals or prizes. There are no formalities but the club will have volunteers en route to make sure you follow the correct route.

And with spring in the air there is a lot to celebrate, like life, the ability to walk/run, friendship, love, an opportunity to help the rhinos and, of course, spring itself. So come with flowers in your hair and your Bermuda shorts or your spring dress.

Please visit their website: www.therhinoorphanage.co.za to see what they are all about and what they have been doing to help save the rhino.
