Proteas are shooting champs in UK

Proteas compete at the World English Sporting Clays Championship.

THREE of the Southern Suburbs’ Proteas shooting champions competed at the prestigious World English Sporting Clays Championship.

The festival of shooting was held at the prestigious EJ Churchill grounds in the UK from June 20 to 26. This event returned to England and is considered the greatest on the clay shooting calendar.

Proteas captain, Rick Rodrigues, from Glenvista won bronze medal in his respective class.

Reece Rodrigues, a Grade Nine student at Marist Brothers Linmeyer, came second in the World Sport Trap championship and second in the English Sporting Prelim event beating out shooters from all over the world.

Clyde Ferguson from Bassonia also competed in his respective category and held his own.
