McDonald’s u.14 school league: Sponsorship extends for three more years

McDONALD’s u.14 Schools will kick off the season in a new Soccer Festival format, in partnership with the South African Schools Football Association – SASFA.

The organisers also announced that the sponsorship has been extended to another three years. The new league was announced on Wednesday, April 6, at the Nike Football Centre.

McDonald’s South Africa will continue with their contribution to football development in schools through its 2010 legacy programme.

The McDonald’s u.14 Schools League is aimed at “Developing Dreams” to ensure that South Africa’s young talent is developed and nurtured at grassroots level.

The Schools League will commence in May and culminatein the provincial finals in the latter part of the year. All schools will compete in this league, which includes the schools in the South.

Previously, the provincial finals took place over a nine-week period and, this year, the league will take place in a new “Soccer Festivals” format, where provinces will travel to other provinces to play their provincial finals.

The soccer festivals will take place in the following regions:

KwaZulu-Natal – July 10 (KZN and Free State)

Mpumalanga – August 13 (Mpumalanga and Limpopo)

North West – August 20 (North West and Gauteng)

Western Cape – September 10 (Western Cape, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape)
