THE South African Mounted Games National Team Championships are being held at Penbritte Equestrian Centre in Alewyenspoort Eikenhof over the Easter weekend

THE South African Mounted Games National Team Championships are being held at Penbritte Equestrian Centre in Alewyenspoort Eikenhof over the Easter weekend.

Friday, March 25 sees the SANESA schools individual competition take place while on Saturday and Sunday KZN, WC and Gauteng will go head-to-head in the team championships.

Gauteng boasts two adult teams and three young rider teams:

Gauteng A: Daniel Ferreira, Megan Marr, Donnelly and Courtney Mc Kenzie and Megan Ireland; Adult B Bafaan Ndlovu, Samantha Kruger, Andrew Rodaughan, Cherisse Nassif and Gareth Ireland.

Young Riders A: Gabi Gomes, Skyler Mac Farlane, Tyla Nepgen and TK Ndlovu; Young Riders B: Leigh-Ann Hayes, Mischa Hammond, Nakita Esson and Justin Smit; Young Riders Mixed: Stacey Ireland and Grace Queally.

An open team and an u.17 team have been invited to Ireland in July this year to compete in the World Team Championships and South Africa is hosting the Nations Team Championships taking place in KZN in December. South Africa will also host its first World Team Championships in 2017.

Equestrians of all ages and at all levels are invited to spectate this weekend. The beautiful equestrian centre boasts free entrance, safe parking, restaurant and tack shop. Regular jumping, dressage, mounted games and now-showing shows are held at this popular venue in the south of the city,
