Schools T20 Challenge

The Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge is where our country’s future cricketing heroes are made.

SIX of the best schools in the country will battle it out for the Coca-Cola T20 Challenge title. The six schools have already been named after they won their respective local franchise titles.

The annual Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge will take place at the North West University from March 18 to 21.

The seventh edition of this very popular tournament reached a climax when the winners of each franchise had to locally battle it out within their respective school clusters. Some 665 schools from across South Africa took part in the regional and provincial finals. The schools representing their local franchises in the final phase of the tournament are as follows:

Lions – St Stithians College

Titans – Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool

Dolphins – Kearsney College

Knights – Grey College

Warriors – Grey High School

Cobras – Paarl Gimnasium

Fetsi Mbele, Coca-Cola South Africa’s senior communications manager: brand experience, said, “I would like to congratulate the six sides who have progressed to the Coca-Cola T20 Schools Challenge National Finals. As provincial champions, you are all already heroes. I wish each and every player the best of luck for the tournament and look forward to following your development in cricket in the years to come.

“The Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge is where our country’s future cricketing heroes are made, and with the likes of Quinton de Kock and Proteas superstar bowler, Kagiso Rabada, having already progressed through its ranks, the tournament is fast becoming synonymous as a platform for showcasing some of the best in South African youth cricketing talent.”

To highlight the talent that will no doubt be uncovered at this year’s Coca-Cola T20 Schools Challenge national finals, a judging panel will be selecting and recognising the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day. This daily award will honour the standout player on each match day of the tournament.

The national champions will take back to their schools a whopping R110 000 prize from Coca-Cola to put towards the development of cricket at their school.
