MORGAN Sebego has been selected for the South African Martial Arts team to represent his country at the International Sport Kickboxing Association (ISKA) World Championships in Orlando, Florida, USA, in June.

He is a Grade 8 learner at Mondeor High School and has been selected as a member of the Official South African SASMA team to attend the ISKA World championships.

He started kickboxing at Swiss Karatedo Renmei – SKR Dojo at the age of ten in February 2013. SKR was founded and is headed up by Shihan Abdullah Bayett who is an internationally recognised 6th Dan black belt.

Sebego attends the dojo at the Crown Gardens Recreation Centre under the tutelage of Sensei Juwairiyah Morat-Solomons. He has progressed from starting as a white belt and is currently a second degree brown belt.

He has entered a number of tournaments in Johannesburg and Pretoria and has won numerous medals for his division in various disciplines during this time, totalling seven gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals.

In 2014 he was selected as part of a team to represent Central Gauteng Province for points fighting and this qualified him to enter for the South African Kickboxing Championship tournament which took place in Pretoria. Unfortunately, he did not place but gained valuable experience and he was again selected as part of a team to represent Johannesburg Province in 2015. This time he won bronze for points fighting in his division at the Gauteng Kickboxing Championships and also won bronze at the South African Kickboxing Championships which took place in Cape Town. As a result of this he was selected for the South African Kickboxing Association (SAKA) World Championship for the Presidents team which is a development team.

In October last year, Sebego attended Destiny 2015, which is one of the largest annual tournaments in South Africa with approximately 1200 competitors in various disciplines and divisions and is run and managed by International Sport Karate Association ISKA. He won gold for points fighting in his division and as a result qualified for ISKA World Championships.
