Visarend Angling Club holds angling competition.

What a way to start the year: with record breaking results.

VISAREND Angling Club celebrated the start of the year with record breaking results.

The club hosted its January 16 competition at the Vaal Dam.

Mini winner: Joshua Wagner, 12 fish, 7.590kg; second: Hennie Bezuidenhout, 13 fish, 4.540kg; third: Armand Wagner, nine fish, 2.625kg.

Junior winner: Ruan JV Rensburg, 26 fish, 24.745kg; second: Tiaan JV Rensburg, 17 fish, 9.075kg; third: Izan Smit, seven fish, 2.285kg.

Veteran Winner: Bennie Bezuidenhout, 29 fish, 51.960kg; second: Roelf de Bruyn, 19 fish, 6.720kg ; third: Clive brook, one fish, 1.625kg

Ladies winner: Karen Nel, 49 fish, 38.765kg; second: Madelein Cordier, 64 fish, 23.101kg; third: Marie Coetzer, 44 fish, 24.111kg;

Senior winner: Jurrie Nel, 59 fish, 85.510kg; second: Pieter Botha, 52 fish, 72.945kg; third: Warren Cheek, 40 fish, 76.516kg.

Most fish (64): Madelein Cordier.

Biggest fish: Andre Herbst with an baber of over 15.7kg;

Heaviest bag: 85.51kg;

Overall winner: Jurrie Nel.

The February competition will be held at Erasmus on February 13 and 14. Visitors welcome.
