Charity Mile: 16 horses, 16 charities and 16 celebrities come together

16 horses, 16 charities and 16 celebrities in action.

ALL eyes will be on the racing track when the Charity Mile is run at Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday, October 31. Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile has announced the 16 chosen celebrities and paired them with a charity who will be accompanied by a media partner. Together they will support a good cause and raise funds in an extraordinary way for their allocated charity. The 16 racing horses will be on track to fight it out to determine the eventual winner for their charity. The charity will then, according to the finishing place of the specific horses, receive their prize money.

One of the media partners for the event, Southern Courier, has been paired along with well-known double world boxing champion, Hekkie Budler. Their charity will be Reahile Primary Aftre Care Centre.

Together with the Southern Courier from Caxton South, Comaro Chronicle, Alberton Record and Kathorus Mail will make up the rest of the Southern newspapers, who will not only be showing support for their charities, but also the horses which will be racing for them.

Comaro Chronicle will have Jay Anstey as the celebrity for their charity, Jongimfundo Primary After Care Centre. Alberton Record and Amanda du Pont will support Maphanzela Primary After Care. Both the Southern Courier and Comaro Chronicle, together with Alex Caige, will also support Umkhathize Primary After Care Centre.

The charity matched with the winning racehorse will receive R150 000, second place will receive R100 000, with all 14 other charities getting proportionate amounts of the total donation, depending on the allocated horse’s placement.

Gates open at 11:00.
