Fun day at Charity Mile

16 Horses, 16 Charities and 16 media partners at the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile.

THE Charity Mile will once again bring the entire community together when 16 horses, 16 charities and 16 media partners get together at the historic Turffontein Racecourse for a day full of fun.

Caxton South will once again be one of the foremost media partners in this event which sees 16 horses battles it out for their 16 Charities with the support of the media.

This year’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile will take place on Saturday, October 31.

One of Peermont Children’s Trust’s selected 16 charities, Nageng Primary School, which will win a share of R1 million, paid a visit to the oldest horse racing track in South Africa to get a feeling of what horse racing is all about. The learners were treated to a meal and rubbed shoulders with some of SA’s top celebrities like actress, model and businesswoman Amanda du Pont, radio personality and DJ Alex Caige, comedian Trevor Gumbi and TV presenter and model K Naomi.

Most important of all, they also had the chance to ride on one of Jod’s Riding Centre’s ponies. The riding centre is situated in Eikenhof and managed by Felicia Rowen.

The winning charity will receive R150 000, second place will receive R100 000 and the remaining 14 charities will receive proportionate amounts of the total donation, based on the allocated horses’ placement.
