Davis Cup team announced to face the Irish

SA team to take on the Irish announced.

Tennis South Africa (TSA) named the South African squad to face Ireland in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Europe/Africa Zone Group Two playoffs.

With South Africa’s top ranked single and doubles players, Kevin Anderson and Raven Klaasen not available for the tie, TSA has opted to name a six-man squad for the playoffs. The players named for the squad are Tucker Vorster, Fritz Wolmarans, Dean O’Brien, Ruan Roelofse, Nik Scholtz and Lloyd Harris.

Vorster, Wolmarans, O’Brien and Roelofse are the four players who have been nominated as per the Davis Cup rules to the International Tennis Federation (ITF). This process allows captain Earl Grainger to swop out any of these four players up to an hour before the playoffs start.

The tie will be played at the Irene Country Club in Pretoria from July 17 to 19 and is a crucial match-up for both sides as the winner will prevent relegation to Group Three in 2016.
