GRASSROOTS soccer players have been battling it out to progress to the provincial stage of the 2015 McDonald’s u.14 Schools League.

The league is now in its sixth term and once again, McDonald’s South Africa, in partnership with the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA), are contributing to grassroots development of football at schools level.

“We are committed to our continuous contribution in football development at grassroots level. The McDonald’s u.14 Schools League is about “Developing Dreams”, and over the years we have witnessed those dreams being realised. We are very excited about the opportunity to reach children in schools and actively uplift the communities we serve through sport” said Sechaba Motsieloa, corporate affairs director for McDonald’s South Africa.

The McDonald’s u.14 Schools League sees schools clash against each other at district level before advancing to the nine provincial finals, starting July 25, in Mpumalanga.

This will be followed by: North West (August 1), Gauteng (August 8), Limpopo (August 15), Northern Cape (August 22), KwaZulu-Natal (August 29), Free State (September 5), Eastern Cape (September 12), and Western Cape (September 19)

“We decided to travel this journey and create a platform to enhance and hone the skills and abilities for the learners to play organised football at schools level. Looking back, we are more than happy to have recorded the successes on and off the football pitch,” said SASFA president Mr Mandla ‘Shoes’ Mazibuko.
