Alberton schools rugby round-up
On the schools rugby scene, Marais Viljoen demolished Ermelo by 47-6 in the top eight of the Tuks Super 16, but Hoërskool Alberton’s Beeld-trophy hopes suffered an early setback when they were beaten 13-33 by Linden.
ALBERTON – For Marais Viljoen, their point scorers against Ermelo were Julian Steenkamp (two), Michael du Plessis, Ederick van Niekerk, Dylan du Toit, Jacques Moll and Dawie Botha with tries. Jonathan Muller converted five and Michael Prevo one of the seven tries.
Hoërskool Alberton’s 13 points against Linden were scored by Caritmo Jones and Evert Schawb with tries and Bryan Thysse added a penalty goal.
Schools rugby fixtures: Saturday, May 23: Marais Viljoen vs Jeugland (away); Alberton High vs Goudrif (away) and the big local schools derby Hoërskool Alberton vs Dinamika will again take place at Hoërskool Alberton.
May, 30: Hoërskool Alberton vs Randburg (at home) and Alberton High School vs Roodepoort (away). (Fixtures are subject to change).
