Regional motorsport season starts at Midvaal

The first round of the Northen regions regional motorsport championship will take place on February 14 at Midvaal Raceway in Meyerton.

ALBERTON – The track has a long history of being a track which produces excellent racing and the high speed back, straight and tight technical sections make for some really close racing and a favourite among competitors who enjoy pushing their equipment to the limit.

With the longest straight of the northern regions facilities, the front runners in some of the categories will reach speeds of about 240 km per hour, so those looking for some thrills will be in for a treat.

A highlight of the day will be the Big Boss Auto supersaloon category, which is now the host to the GTA class, monstrous V8 engines in space-framed cars, and a full grid of these cars is enough to make the ground rattle when they hit the track.

In the mix will also be the class B rotary contenders, which will definitely be a challenge to many of the V8 cars – another real crowd pleaser.

Yokohama modified production car class will, for 2015, also host a variety of front wheel drive turbo-charged cars, and will become the country’s premier class of front wheel drive competition.

Heading up that challenge will be multiple champion Devin Robertrson in the Liqui Moly Renault Megane, expecting some fierce competition from many other turbo-charged cars representing their brand.

Single seater fans will be treated to the formula monoposto category, which hosts many different single-seater cares. The liqui moly inex legends will also be on track with the motorcycle-engined pocket rockets screaming round the track.

Silver cup club class has a variety of front wheel drive and rear wheel drive cars, all challenging for a win on the day.

Fans of the older cars will be treated to the Midvaal historics, which host any historic competitor who wants the opportunity to enjoy his car and compete at the same time, also the Alfo Trofeo filled with new and old Alfas alike.

Midvaal Raceway has catering facilities and a great venue for the family to enjoy a day at the track. For enquiries contact Nino on 083 601 7544.
