Fifty-six horses have been entered for the R2-million Sansui Summer Cup (Grade 1) over 2 000m at Turffontein on Saturday November 29, including last season’s Triple Crown winner Louis The King.

Geoff Woodruff’s runner has won six of his nine career starts and finished third behind Vodacom Durban July winner Legislate in the Daily News 2000.

He, along with No Worries, is the second top-rated runner on the list of entries – his year-older stablemate Tellina is rated a point superior to the four-year-old. He finished third behind Yorker and another horse Woodruff has entered, Master Sabina, in last year’s Summer Cup.

Woodruff has also entered Rake’s Chestnut, second to Legislate in the Daily News 2000, Killua Castle, a close fifth behind Yorker in this race last year, Lockheed Jetstar, who has won his last two starts and beat more highly regarded Rake’s Chestnut in his penultimate start, Cigar Boy, Sabadell, American Storm and classy filly Touch The Sky. Seven of them are among the 20 top-rated entries.

Vodacom Durban July winning trainer Justin Snaith has four horses entered, Astro News, Run For It, Dynamic and Arion, while Kom Naidoo-trained Charity Mile winner Royal Zulu Warrior has also been entered.

Second entries close at 11:00 on Monday November 3; weights: Monday November 3; final entries: 11:00 Monday November 17; declarations: 11:00 Tuesday November 18; draws and final field announcement: Wednesday November 19.
