Tough match ahead for Kaizer Chiefs

Amakhosi will host University of Pretoria at the FNB Stadium on Saturday September 13.

Kaizer Chiefs will be facing their sixth match in the ABSA Premiership taking on Tuks on Saturday.

“They are always a very tough side to play,” said head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, Stuart Baxter. “We need to put them on the back foot and take our chances.”

The kick-off time is 15:00.

The PSL ABSA Premiership returns with all the teams in action over the weekend. SuperSport United, with former Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund at the helm, will be taking on Platinum Stars in Atteridgeville later the evening.

Polokwane City also has a new face at the helm, Kosta Papic, as he tries to take them to three points in his first game versus AmaZulu at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Log leader Kaizer Chiefs will have a tough task when they play their sixth match in the league and will try to extend their lead by beating the club from Pretoria on home soil.

Apart from the five league wins, the team from the South have also won three cup games to make it eight out of eight so far in 2014/15.

“We’ve won nothing yet and we’ve done nothing more than win a few games,” he said. “When expectations rise, our job is to make sure that we keep our feet on the ground.

“So we have to strive to improve and get stronger as the season progresses. But for now we need to stay humble and remain focussed.”

Another intriguing match-up on Saturday sees third-placed Bidvest Wits make the short trip to Soweto to face fifth-placed Orlando Pirates, based in the South.

That match will be played at the Orlando Stadium.

Meanwhile, there will be plenty of interest at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, where Igesund returns in the dugout of domestic football, after two years as coach of Bafana Bafana.

His immediate task is to try and inspire Matsatsantsa after a woeful start to the season under Cavin Johnson, which saw them lose four out of their five games.

“I am delighted to be back and I know there is a lot of work ahead,” the four-time Premiership-winning coach said. “My first priority is to take the club out from where they are and possibly fight for a top-eight position.”

Dikwena are in ninth position, two places above Tuks.

The side in between, Bloemfontein Celtic, are involved in possibly the pick of the matches in round six as they welcome Mamelodi Sundowns to the Free State Stadium on Saturday.

The Brazilians, who are the defending champions, have won just twice so far this term to sit in eighth position.

Surprise second-placed side Ajax Cape Town, will meanwhile be waiting to pounce on any Chiefs slip-up, when they host Free State Stars at Athlone Stadium. The Urban Warriors (11) are four points behind the leaders (15) at this stage, while Bidvest Wits (10) are a further point back.

Earlier on Saturday, Maritzburg Utd, in sixth position, will be looking to maintain their good start to the campaign, when they welcome Mpumalanga Black Aces to Harry Gwala Stadium.

Polokwane will see an early season relegation battle as second-bottom City face last-placed Usuthu, who are the only winless side remaining in the Premiership.

Finally, Moroka Swallows, the fourth placed team, takes on coachless Chippa United in Dobsonville on Sunday.
