The 2014 u.19 Regional Women’s league championships received a bumper new sponsorship.

This year’s championships will be hosted by SAFA Vhembe region in Thohoyandou, Limpopo and will run from August 18 to 24.

The championship and draw took place on Thursday August 14 at SAFA House, where the brand new sponsor was unveiled.

The launch of this year’s championships was presided over by SAFA CEO Dennis Mumble and a representative from sponsors Grand Parade Investment and its subsidiary company Burger King.

Each of the provincial sides will have to submit a list of 18 players. All players must produce their respective South African ID cards or a valid passport.

Only players born on or after January 1, 1996 and playing in the SAFA Regional Women’s League and lower leagues will be allowed to participate in the championships.

Speaking at the media launch, which coincided with the public draw, Mumble said the annual u.19 Women championship was a vital tool in the entire development of women football.

“This is the platform which produced most of the stars now doing duty in the Banyana Banyana squad. We hope the upcoming tour will produce yet other future stars.I would like to take this opportunity to thank our proud sponsors, GPI and its subsidiary company Burger King. Without them most of such activities would not be realised,” he said.

GPI and Burger King are also the sponsors of the national u.17 and men’s national championships.
