Boxing Extravaganza

With the boxers and MMA fighters set to keep audiences captivated, there will be an exhibition match of the lighter variety that sees popular East Coast Radio DJ Darren 'The Assassin' Maule face 'The White Buffalo' in his first-ever major fight.

THE Boxing Extravaganza will take place on August 22 at SMD when they play host to a Box ‘n Dine.

The event, the brainchild of former boxers Francois ‘The White Buffalo’ Botha and Hardy Mileham, will see no less than eight professional fights as well as two Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fights on the card.

With the boxers and MMA fighters set to keep audiences captivated, there will be an exhibition match of the lighter variety that sees popular East Coast Radio DJ Darren ‘The Assassin’ Maule face ‘The White Buffalo’ in his first-ever major fight.

While the aim of the night, organised by White Buffalo Productions, is largely to promote the hosting of boxing at the venue, the calibre of fighters on offer ensures that that the fights will be competitive and of the highest quality.

The bout card is:

– Marcel Botha, the son of former world heavyweight champion Francois, up against Khumbulani Mdletshi.

– Local fighter David Rajuili of Ringside Boxing Gym, steps up in weight class to take on lightweight boxer Mthunzi Dlamini.

– Samson Khulalo from Train Gym in Durban, is up against experienced fighter Prince Dlomo from Johannesburg.

– Golden Gloves fighter Ricardo Hiraman from the South – a fighter with three KO wins and one loss, will be going toe-to-toe against Bongimuso Ndwandwe. The two met as amateurs with Ndwandwe one up.

– Other fighters include Garth Noot, former South Africa amateur champ Damain Heynecke and another local, Armand Herbst also from Ringside Boxing Gym and who has won his only fight by knockout.

Seasoned boxing referee Stan Christodoulou will be the commentator for the evening and has a wealth of experience after having refereed more than 100 world title fights.

An auction on the night will also see sport and boxing memorabilia, including gloves and autographed photographs, up for grabs with proceeds going towards the Buffalo Soldiers.
