The heat and artificial turf did not seem to be much of a hindrance for Vera Pauw’s charges as they continued with their dominance over Comores.

Modise doubled the lead in the 20th minute before Leandra Smeda extended the score to three with a beautiful header from inside the box.

Sanah Mollo also registered her name in the score sheet in the first stanza before Modise made it 5-0 with minutes left before the half time break.

Sasol Banyana Banyana returned from the break and continued with their impressive form, scoring eight goals in the second half.

“We prepared very well for the match and I’m happy that the ladies have started finding the back of the net. We did not change the team, but we also gave other players a chance in the second half. We were dominating the game, the was not much competition from the start,” said Pauw.

“Today was a good day for Women’s football and South Africa. A big thank you to our sponsor Sasol for always supporting us,”she said at the Press Conference on Saturday May 24 when the team returned home.
