SA School Sprints

Alex Masina did very well in the SA School Sprints champs.

SOUTH African Schools Sprint Championships took place over the weekend May 1 and 3 at the Stormdrift Dam in De Rust in the Eastern Cape.

Sprints is recognised as the most important canoeing discipline, as it is the main Olympic discipline, and juniors throughout South Africa compete in various distances, 200m, 500m, 1 000m, and 5 000m to accumulate points throughout the year.

Alex Masina who lives in the South of Johannesburg and is a member of the Johannesburg Canoe Club at Wemmer Pan, attends Forest Town High School. He earned 60 points overall during the competition, resulting in the school tying for 11th position with Bridge House Private School in Natal, out of 42 high schools that participated.
