Wellington still on track

As a result of hard work and dedicated training that young schoolboy became a top athlete.

WELLINGTON Nukwa is being remembered in athletic circles as the young schoolboy who excelled in any distance from the sprints up to 4 and 8 km distances in cross-country.

As a result of hard work and dedicated training that young schoolboy became a man and top athlete, winning a coveted gold medal at the SA track and field championships. This feat happened in 2011 for him as a member of the 4 x 400 metres Central Gauteng gold medallists.

At the central Gauteng championships during March this year at Germiston Stadium, Wellington won a silver medal in the 200 metres. He is coached by Deon Swanepoel at Marais Viljoen club. Deon is also the coach of middle distance achiever Clinton Swanepoel. Wellington’s best time for the individual 400 metres distance, is 48.1 seconds. Over and above his first love athletics, Wellington is working full time in Cleveland, but is also studying after hours for a qualification in Business Marketing.
