ABSA trophy handover

ABSA PSl trophy will be handed over to the winners on Saturday.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) together with league sponsors Absa have announced onTuesday May 6 the logistics around the Absa Premiership Trophy handover.

PSL CEO Brand de Villiers confirmed that the Absa Premiership Trophy will be handed to the champions on the last game played by the Absa Premiership champions – 2013/14 season.

De Villiers said: “The PSL has decided to hand over the trophy at the last fixture of the club that will emerge as champions of the Absa Premiership on May 10. This means that even if a club has mathematically won the Absa Premiership before May 10, they will not be handed the trophy until their last match.”

The PSL CEO said the League has planned for all scenarios should the championship race go to the last day of the season. “Together with our partners Absa, we have prepared for various scenarios should the Absa Premiership destination be decided on the last day of the league. Staff at our office has been working behind the scenes to ensure that we cover all bases. I’m excited about the next few days and cannot wait to see who will be crowned 2013/14 Absa Premiership champions,” De Villiers said.
