ALBERTON – The chairman highlighted the renovations and improvements to the clubhouse and elaborated on the most successful road race in February 2013, reverting back to the Alberton Stadium for the start and finish.
The support of committee members and members contributed to a very good year. Without sponsors like Paul James Hairdressing (Paul Fox), Spear Labels (Rob Spear) and Mawer and Delport (Fanie Kruger), the great year was not possible. “Gratitude to Ekurhuleni Metropolitan council and Alberton RECORD for assistance and friendly publicity,” the chairman added.
Improved participation in provincial cross-country by senior athletes and track and field by juniors were also highlighted. And so was the successful Comrades story. Silver medallists in the most gruelling Comrades marathon ever by Glyn Rynhoud and Gert Bezuidenhout, were legendary.
Alberton Athletics Club’s athletes who wore the club’s colours with pride and joy deserved success during the year in review.
