Chiefs strikes closer to possible league victory

Kaizer Chiefs stretch their winning streak with a 1 - 0 victory over Supersport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker sealed a 1 – 0 victory for his team when they took on Pretoria side Supersport United in an ABSA Premiership match.

Although this was a home game for Kaizer Chiefs, the match was played at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The Matsatsantsa were then saved by the woodwork in the 31st minute when Knowledge Musona rattled the upright after Morgan Gould supplied a long ball up field.

SuperSport failed to clear their lines and it allowed for the Zimbabwean to unleash an effort at goal.

The half was concluded with Thato Mokeke’s long-range effort which sailed over the crossbar as Chiefs went into the break leading 1-0.

At the restart Doutie supplied a threatening cross into the box which forced Khune to rush off his line and clutch it midair, before Kgotso Moleko was lucky not to get his second yellow for a high tackle on Ndlovu.

David Mathebula was introduced midway through the second-half and he forced Khune to make a save almost immediately with his shot straight down the channel.

Chiefs claimed the 1-0 win but SuperSport ended the game with ten men after Enocent Mkhabela was handed his second yellow for getting involved in a player scuffle.
