ALBERTON – The first victory was the Men’s Handicap league. The team beat Avion Park in the final at Royal Oak.
This is the first year that all the Ekurhuleni clubs played in their own league. The East Rand clubs broke away from the old Central Gauteng Golf Union a year ago to form the Ekurhuleni Golf Union. Reading Country Club entered five teams in competition and won four of the competitions (the other two were the Women Midweek and Sunday Leagues).
The club narrowly missed out on a clean sweep by not winning the Scratch League which is contested by low handicap golfers.
Reading also won the Senior Handicap League for players over 50 years of age. The final was played at Pollack Park Golf Club in Springs against SAPS Training Centre Golf Club which Reading won convincingly.
