Avontuur Cape Fillies Guineas race

On Saturday December 7 the launch of Kenilworth Racing’s Summer of Champion's Grade One races with the Avontuur Cape Fillies Guineas will take place.

KENILWORTH – The race course will be transformed into a carnival of cultures, with live entertainment for the whole family and top class South African racing.

The Avontuur Cape Fillies Guineas and Intercontinental Village extends beyond a great horse racing spectacle as the day is also based on charities and upliftment. Over the years the steady growth of the event sees more support from both the racing fraternity and public, and it is now one of the most popular racing events on the calendar, as well as being the first big day of the Cape’s Summer of Champions.

“With everything from elegant fashion, high class racing and festive fun – our Fillies Guineas race day is truly a unique offering and we are excited to expand even further this year,” said Avontuur’s Michael Taberer. “From the beginning, we’ve offered free entrance to all race lovers and their families, with special kiddie’s entertainment in the gardens surrounding the track and tempting hospitality options in the newly upgraded grandstand,”

The 2013 event offers various experiences tailor-made to accommodate everyone who’s keen to enjoy a day at the races. Eight nationalities including Italy, Portugal and Thailand will showcase traditional cuisine and nominate charities they chose which will benefit from the R100 000 pool up for grabs. Each charity is represented by a horse in the feature race, all of whom will receive a donation from Kenilworth racing. The charities are matched to a horse at the Final Draw on November 28.

Each of the eight represented communities selects a charity of their choice as do our media partners, 16 charities in total.

Gates open at 11:00.
