Alberton SAPS officer shows kindness to senior (83)

After receiving good service, a Silwerkroon pensioner (83) has thanked the men and women in blue of Alberton SAPS for their service.

While leaving the hospital on June 15 my cellphone was stolen. Of course, this necessitated all sorts of paperwork to be done.

As I had pneumonia, the task of going to Alberton Police Station was not one I relished.

On June 17, I visited the station and it was very cold. Leaning heavily on my daughter’s arm, I started down the pathway.

We had gone by a few steps when a young policeman came up the path and stopped us.

“What’s wrong granny?” he asked. I’m 83, my daughter explained the reason for our visit.

“Where’s your car?” he asked then. “Granny go back inside your car, keep warm in there and I will bring the paperwork to you.”

I was amazed by such kindness to an old lady, certainly not what I expected. It was so good to receive such treatment from a member of our police force. He stood by the car and completed the affidavit in the cold. God bless you Sergeant Dhlame Jabu for such consideration. Definitely worthy of praise.Ann Haynes
